Building Department

Village building department services - plan reviews, building permits, and building inspections - are conducted solely by third-party vendors, SAFEbuilt Illinois for RESIDENTIAL Services, and Lakeside Consultants for COMMERCIAL Services. The entire permitting process, from registration through permit assignment, is processed online with all project status communications conducted by email. Permit and plan review fees, effective November 17, 2025, can be found in Village Ordinance 2025-O-26.

Residential Projects

Residential Contractor Registration

Prior to conducting residential work in the Village, contractors must register with SAFEbuilt, by completing a contractor registration form and submit via email to ILinspections@safebuilt.com. Once registration has been confirmed, a link will be provided to apply for a permit. Please familiarize yourself with Village code pertaining to hours of construction, prior to beginning work.

RESIDENTIAL Permits

The first step is to contact your HOA for approvals if necessary. Registered contractors and/or residents may apply for permits online via SAFEbuilt Community Core online permit portal.

RESIDENTIAL Inspections

To request an inspection, please contact SAFEbuilt at (847) 510-4104 or ILinspections@safebuilt.com. Inspection services are provided within 48-hours of the request.

Commercial Projects

COMMERCIAL Permits

The first step is to apply for a commercial permit via Lakeside Consultants' SimplePermit online permit portal. If you have questions regarding the commercial permitting process, please refer to the Lakeside Consulting User Guide .

COMMERCIAL Inspections

To request an inspection, please contact Lakeside Consultants at info@simplepermit.io or call
331-274-9630. Inspections are provided within 72-hours of the request.

To request an inspection for fire suppression, fire alarm, or sprinkler systems, please contact the Pingree Grove Fire Protection District at fire.prevention@pgfpd.com or call 847-741-3151. Inspections are provided within 72-hours of the request.
