Pingree Grove, Illinois – Fraud is rampant, and unfortunately local government is not immune to becoming a victim. The Village of Pingree Grove has been the target of a cybercrime, which involved unauthorized access to its employee email system. Law enforcement is working diligently to investigate the issue and coordinate with relevant federal agencies on the investigation.
As this is an ongoing active investigation with law enforcement, additional information is unavailable at this time. The Village has no evidence to suggest that any personal utility account information was part of the email compromise.
