Why is there a monthly fee for water/sewer service?

To fund the operating expenses, debt service, capital improvements and replacement costs for Village water and sewer treatment infrastructure, a minimum rate structure is imposed on each water and sewer utility account. A combined water and sewer monthly base fee is $45.00 per month ($90 per two-month billing cycle), assessed on a per-unit/account holder basis. The combined water and sewer consumption/usage charge is $8.28 (11/2022) per 1,000 gallons of water.  Usage is calculated using the measurement from the meter located at each unit.
