The Village of Pingree Grove Board of Trustees has reviewed the Halloween guidelines issued by the CDC and other Public Health Officials. For the full text of the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Halloween Guidance, click here. After much discussion, the official hours designated for trick-or-treating on October 31st will be 3pm – 7pm. Although health officials recommend seeking alternatives to in-person celebrating, if you choose to participate in trick-or-treating, masking and proper handwashing are highly recommended.
As always, participating in trick-or-treating is absolutely voluntary. We understand that many of our residents feel strongly one way or another. It is recommended that residents use their front porch light as an indicator of their preference, leaving it on during the official hours as an indicator to trick-or-treaters that you are participating, and conversely, if you are not participating, leaving your porch light off during the official hours. Additionally, we are providing simple printable signs that you may wish to place on your front door as another visual indicator of your preference for trick-or-treaters. Stay safe, Pingree Grove!
