PINGREE GROVE MAN FACES CHARGES FOR BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
The Village of Pingree Grove Police Department has arrested and charged Diamante Parker of the 2300 Block of Upland Drive, in Pingree Grove, Illinois, of Felony Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.
The Village alleges that at 2:20am on April 9, 2020, Parker was observed by a resident entering a parked, unlocked motor vehicle and searching through its contents. A Pingree Grove Police officer made an emergency response to the scene and found Parker still in the vehicle. Parker is alleged to have removed items from the vehicle without the owner’s consent. The items removed from the vehicle were located in Parker’s pocket. Parker was charged with Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, a Class 3 Felony, and transported to the Kane County Jail to await a bond hearing.
Pingree Grove Police Chief Shawn Beane said, “we are thankful for the keen observation of a resident who saw suspicious activity in progress and quickly called 911, and for the diligence of our officer in responding to the scene rapidly. The alleged offender was taken into custody at gunpoint, but without further incident. We are continuing investigations of previously reported burglaries to motor vehicles and alleged burglaries to homes, to determine if the same offender is involved. The Police Department encourages all residents to keep their homes and vehicles locked, and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.”
Members of the public are reminded that a defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial in which the burden of guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt before the court. The charges against Parker are not proof of guilt.
