COVID-19 Update

covid-19-1330px

The ongoing spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in our state and country has been unprecedented.  We are working on a daily basis, directly with our federal, state and local counterparts to ensure that every possible precaution is being utilized to protect the safety of our community.  The Kane County Health Department will shortly be publicly sharing access to their updated COVID-19 database, which is available at this link.  We have been working with the Health Department to confirm the accuracy of the data.  At present, the database indicates that there are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pingree Grove.  The County is working to confirm that those cases are actually in Pingree Grove, and not merely in the 60140 zip code.

From a practical perspective, there are some realities that we need to confront:

  • Whether we presently have 0 cases or 2 cases, it is almost certain that the Village will have more COVID-19 cases in the near future.
  • Based on the statistical data we are reviewing, the number of confirmed cases will almost certainly increase to far more than 2.

That is the reality of the situation our community--and our country--faces.

Here is the other reality that we face, however.  Whether there are cases in our community or not, the best measures that we can take to protect ourselves include following the same CDC recommendations to prevent spread of the disease that we have been sharing for weeks.  If there aren’t cases in Pingree Grove, there are cases in other nearby communities where we go to shop and to work.  According to the healthcare professionals, even if there is a confirmed case living next door to you, as long as you comply with the social distancing and hygiene recommendations, you are at no greater risk of exposure.  In other words, if you aren’t maintaining social distancing when you go to the grocery store, you’re creating more risk for your family than you have living next door to a confirmed case.

We continue to encourage residents to employ every possible precaution in accordance with official government recommendations, and we are committed to sharing accurate, factual information once it has been fully vetted.  We want you to have confidence in the information you hear from the Village, and we will continue to work to maintain your trust.  As always, please contact the Village directly with any questions--you can reach us at info@pingreegrove.org or 847/464-5533.
