Stay at Home, Playgrounds, Solicitors and Local Restaurants

We wanted to share a few quick, important updates with you.

Stay At Home:  The Governor of the State of Illinois has issued Executive Order 2020-10, available at this link.  This order compels all non-essential business in the state to temporarily cease operations, and imposes a Stay At Home order.  Under the terms of the Order, all public or private gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited, as are gatherings outside of a single household or apartment.  All places of amusement are closed, and in particular, playgrounds are ordered to be closed.  Please note that in compliance with the Governor’s Order (in effect statewide), all Village playgrounds are closed, as of Saturday, March 21, 2020.  Unnecessary travel is prohibited, and social distancing is strongly encouraged to the greatest extent feasible.

All non-essential travel is prohibited, but residents are permitted to leave the home for essential work, for outdoor recreation (outside of playgrounds, and provided that social distancing is followed), to purchase items necessary to maintain safety and sanitation, to obtain healthcare, or to care for others.  Please read the order for specific details.  Please note that gas stations, grocery stores, banks, pharmacies and similar stores will remain open, as will restaurants offering carryout service and certain other essential businesses.  A full list is in the Order (linked above).

We ask residents to voluntarily comply with the Order, and to be reasonable and kind in your actions.

Solicitors:  The Village has received requests for commercial solicitors permits, from solicitors who view residents following current health recommendations and staying home as a captive audience.  There is an obvious, significant health threat posed by solicitors going door to door during the current conditions, and the Village President has suspended all outstanding solicitor’s permits, and implemented a temporary, emergency ban on commercial solicitation in the Village.

Local Restaurants:  We have a listing of local restaurants that are open for pickup and carryout service on our website.  In order to support these highly valued local businesses, the Village President has temporarily authorized them to engage in package sales of beer and wine with your carryout order.  Sales are permitted of beer and wine only, and in the original packages, for consumption off premises.

As there are further updates, we will share them.  We appreciate your support and cooperation.
