Water Quality Partners Needed--Utility Bill Credit Offered!!

Water faucet

The Village strives to provide the highest quality water for our residents.  In accordance with best practices and Illinois law, the Village conducts lead and copper testing, typically on a 3 year cycle.  In order to complete this testing, we need to work with residents in a variety of locations to have the residents take samples of their water.  The Village provides the sample bottles, which are dropped off and picked up at your convenience.  In consideration of your support of the program, the Village offers a $25 credit against your utility bill, each time a sample is collected.  Collecting a sample is the highly scientific process of...filling a little plastic bottle.  Really--that's it!

We need your help to ensure our water supply is safe.

To qualify to serve as a water quality partner with us, you simply need to meet the following requirements:

  1. You must have copper plumbing lines (no PEX, CPVC, etc.).  You can tell if you have copper plumbing lines as they will be metallic and copper colored.  (Yes, copper is copper colored).  PEX, CPVC lines or other lines will be plastic, and will be colored blue, red, white or cream.
  2. You cannot have a water softener.  (The Village already softens water for you, but if you've installed a supplemental softener, we can't use your water, as we can't be sure what your softener is doing to the water quality).
  3. You cannot have any plumbing repairs within the past 6 months.
  4. Once we have your interest, the IEPA must approve of each location.

The testing is very simple, and consists of collecting a sample from a frequently used kitchen or bathroom sink, using cold water, first thing in the morning.

If you are interested in being a water quality partner with us, please contact us at  Let us know your address, confirm that you have copper lines, no water softener, and no recent plumbing repairs, and we'll try to get approval from the IEPA.

We offer the $25 credit as an incentive and in compensation for the time you spend on collecting the sample, but really, we need your partnership to ensure the safety of our water supply.  Please consider joining us as a partner!  Only a limited number of spaces are contact us now!
