The Village is in the process of building a complete Geographic Information Systems (GIS) computer model of our utility systems (water, wastewater and stormwater). The GIS models are of great assistance in enhancing the Village's legal compliance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulatory requirements and in enhancing our operating efficiency. For JULIE utility locates, for quickly identifying utility breakages or other operational issues, for maintaining good records of utility system maintenance, for modeling future utility expansions, and for a host of other reasons, GIS enables our Public Works Department and Village Engineer to perform work more quickly and accurately.

In order to build the GIS model, the Village has to use a GPS locator to identify the actual, physical location of our existing utility lines. As many utility lines run in residents' yards, this includes work in your individual yards. There will be no excavation, digging or other disturbance of your yard. The only work being completed is a walk through the recorded utility easements, with the GPS locator (handheld device shown in the picture), to geotag the location of utilities. If your yard is fenced, workers will use the gate to access the utility easements.

All personnel completing this work will be wearing Pingree Grove uniforms or Pingree Grove work shirts (again, see photo). You may see them using the golf cart shown to access different sites. If you have any questions, please contact the Village at 847/464-5533. We appreciate your assistance with this enhancement to our Village records and capabilities!
