The Village utilizes appointed volunteers on three primary committees: the Community Events (“Events”) Committee, the Park Advisory Committee and the Planning & Zoning (“Plan”) Commission.
The Community Events Committee is a volunteer organization that plans and administers the Village’s various public events. Events such as the Independence Day Celebration, Tree Lighting Celebration, Village-wide Garage Sale and other similar events are planned by the Events Committee and are conducted using funds donated or raised specifically for this purpose. No Village tax dollars are used to pay for the direct costs of these events. To learn more about upcoming events on the Events Committee Pages, .
The Park Advisory Committee serves in an advisory role, working to plan improvements for the Village’s various park areas. The Park Advisory Committee also solicits grants and other funding for such improvements and makes recommendations to the Village Board regarding proposed enhancements for Village-wide recreational opportunities. The Park Advisory Committee also liaisons with the Kane County Forest Preserve to facilitate shared recreational opportunities in area forest preserves. The Plan & Zoning ("Plan") Commission serves as an advisory board for the Village, to review proposed zoning or development-related matters. The Plan Commission serves as a traditional plan commission, reviewing proposed plats, plans and zoning standards, and making recommendations to the Village Board regarding their adoption or approval. It also serves as a Zoning Board of Appeals, reviewing requests for variations or other special relief from the Village’s zoning code. For more information on the Plan Commission, .
