Building Permits & Inspections

The Village’s building department services - plan review, building permits, and building inspections - are conducted by a third-party vendor SAFEbuilt Illinois, and no longer handled by Municipal Center staff.

The entire permitting process, from registration through permit assignment, is processed online with all project status communications conducted by email.

Contractor Registration

Prior to conducting work in the Village, contractors must register with SAFEbuilt, by completing  a contractor registration form and submit via email  to  ILinspections@safebuilt.com. Once registration has been confirmed, a link will be provided to apply for a permit.

New Permits

Registered contractors may apply for permits via SAFEbuilt Community Core online permit portal. Permit fees can be viewed/downloaded here. 

Inspections

To request an inspection, please contact SAFEbuilt at (847) 510-4104 or ILinspections@safebuilt.com.   Inspection services are provided within 48-hours of request.

Building Codes

Identified below are the building codes presently in use by the Village. Amendments to the code sets are available by request or may be viewed online. Notice is given that copies of the 2015 IRC, IBC, IFC, IFGC, IMC, IPMC, 2014 NEC, and 2018 IECC are filed with the Village Clerk, pursuant 65 ILCS 5/1-3-2 as of May 9, 2022.
