The Building Department handles all building permit review, issuance of building permits, building code and property ordinance enforcement, and flood plain administration.

If you are considering any additions or improvements to your home, you must first check with the Building Department at (847) 464-5460 or jkelly@pingreegrove.org regarding necessary building permits. Building permits are required before most interior or exterior improvements are made. This includes roofs, fences, decks, patios, pools, and other accessory structures.

If you live in Cambridge Lakes you first have to get a letter of approval from Cambridge Lakes Homeowners Association before you can get your permit. To obtain this letter of approval, you must first fill out and send in an Architectural Improvement Application to the Cambridge Lakes Homeowners Association. This application is available on our web site, under Public Documents; Building Department.

   How to obtain a building permit in three easy steps:

1. Bring the following documents to the Building Department located at 40W885 Railroad Street.:
   1. A copy of the letter of approval from your HOA (if applicable)
   2. A plat of survey showing the location and dimensions of the project for which you are requesting a permit
   3. A copy of the contractors proposal (If applicable).
2. Complete the building permit application (this must be completed at the Building Department)
3. Your permit will take 5 to 7 days to process, call ahead to see if your permit is ready, and come pay for it and pick it up! (make checks payable to the Village of Pingree Grove� no cash or credit cards accepted).
